高村光太郎の蝉の造形に強く心を惹かれ、いつか手にしたいと長く思っていました。
その魅力に取り憑かれるように探し続け、ようやく出会うことができたのが、光太郎門下である朝盛によるこの蝉でした。

高村光太郎 が名文「蝉の美と造型」で語ったように、蝉の形態には彫刻的な造形美が凝縮されています。本作にもその思想が感じられ、量感ある胸部の造形と、波形を描く翅の曲線が見事に表現されています。

裏蓋には「昭和七年冬　寒子朝盛」と記されており、昭和初期に制作された作品であることがわかります。また本作は、山形県の財閥家に長年所蔵されていた旧蔵品でもあります。

保存状態も大変良好で、木彫作品に見られがちなひび割れや欠け、目立つ傷などは確認されず、非常に美しい状態を保っています。

光太郎の造形思想を受け継いだ門下作品として、彫刻の魅力を静かに伝えてくれる一点です。

I have long been fascinated by the sculptural beauty of the cicada created by Kotaro Takamura and had hoped someday to own one.
After searching for many years, I was finally fortunate enough to encounter this cicada sculpture by Asamori, a disciple of Takamura.

As Takamura wrote in his well-known essay “The Beauty and Form of the Cicada”, the cicada possesses a condensed sculptural beauty within its form.
In this work, that philosophy can clearly be felt. The powerful modeling of the thorax and the elegant wave-like curves of the wings are beautifully expressed.

The inside of the lid is inscribed “Showa 7 Winter Kanshi Asamori” (1932), indicating that the piece was made in the early Showa period.
It was also formerly preserved for many years by a zaibatsu family in Yamagata Prefecture, making it an interesting piece with a notable provenance.

The condition is excellent. There are no visible cracks, chips, or significant damage, which is remarkable for a wooden sculpture of this age.

As a work that inherits the sculptural philosophy of Takamura, this piece quietly conveys the charm and depth of modern Japanese sculpture.

Kotaro Takamura
所作的蝉的造型深深吸引，期以来都希望有机会有一件作品。多年找，于遇到了件由高村光太郎下雕刻家 朝盛 所作的木雕蝉。

正如高村光太郎在著名文章《蝉的美与造型》中所述，蝉的形中凝聚着高度的雕塑性美感。本作品同能感受到思想：胸部厚重而富有体量感的造型，以及翅膀呈出的波浪状美曲，都被表得十分精彩。

盒盖内写有 “昭和七年冬　寒子朝盛” 字，表明此作品制作于昭和初期（1932年）。此外，本作品曾期由山形一位家族收藏保存，具有一定的收藏来源背景。

保存状佳。作年代久的木雕作品，没有裂、缺或明痕，整体状十分良好。
