Ravi Shankar, a leading Indian composer and sitarist, had a major influence on Philip Glass and actively collaborated with Western musicians, even performing in Japan with Hozan Yamamoto and Shin Miyashita. He has also composed music for a number of films, most notably this “Opu Trilogy” directed by the ever-popular Satyajit Ray. The A-side, “Pather Panchali” depicts a pastoral atmosphere and is filled with stunning performances by Pakhawaj and Dhlruva throughout. The B-side, with the flute player humming, strumming, and improvising on the dope impression "Aparajito“, and Apur Sansar” is the most versatile and diverse sounding of the three. A soundtrack masterpiece with outstanding Indian classical music. The disc is in excellent condition with no scratches, but some noise is inevitable due to the pressing process.
